Voices of a Distant Star

“Voices of a Distant Star,” directed by Makoto Shinkai, is a poignant animated short film that explores the emotional distance between two young lovers, Mikako and Noboru, as they are separated by space and time. As Mikako embarks on a space mission to fight an alien race, their only means of communication is through text messages, which take increasingly longer to reach each other as the distance between them grows.
