The Wound

“The Wound,” directed by John Trengove, is a powerful exploration of masculinity and cultural tradition set in the rural Eastern Cape of South Africa. The film follows Xolani, a factory worker who returns annually to mentor young boys during a traditional initiation ritual, but his life is complicated by the arrival of a defiant initiate who challenges the status quo and forces Xolani to confront his own identity and desires.
