“Tatau” centers on Kyle and Budgie, two friends in their twenties from London, who embark on a global adventure. Before their trip, Kyle gets a Maori-inspired tattoo to honor their ultimate destination: the Cook Islands. While snorkeling in a lagoon, Kyle discovers the lifeless body of a local girl named Aumea, bound underwater. However, when he returns with the police, the body has vanished. Despite this, Kyle is certain of what he witnessed. Determined to solve the mystery, Kyle and Budgie delve deeper into a realm filled with Maori legends, symbols, and surreal visions, leading to the eventual revelation of the true significance of Kyle’s tattoo.
