Keeping Up Appearances

“Keeping Up Appearances” is a British sitcom crafted and penned by Roy Clarke for the BBC. The series revolves around the quirky and socially ambitious Hyacinth Bucket, who is fixated on impressing the middle-class society and presenting herself as wealthier than she actually is.

Patricia Routledge stars as Hyacinth, a role that earned her two BAFTA nominations. The show aired on BBC One from 1990 to 1995, producing five series and 44 episodes, including four Christmas specials. It enjoyed significant success in the UK and also garnered a substantial following in the US, Canada, and Australia. However, production ended in 1995 when Routledge decided to pursue other opportunities. Since its initial broadcast, all five series and the Christmas specials have been released on DVD. In 2004, the sitcom was ranked 12th in the list of Britain’s Best Sitcoms and continues to be regularly rebroadcast worldwide.
