Casualty
CASUAL+Y, a British medical drama series, airs weekly on BBC One and holds the title of the world’s longest-running emergency medical drama. Conceived by Jeremy Brock and Paul Unwin, it premiered on 6 September 1986 on BBC One in the UK, with Geraint Morris as the original producer.
Set in the fictional Holby City Hospital, the series centers on the staff and patients of the hospital’s Accident and Emergency Department. Although it shares its setting with the spin-off series Holby City, which started in 1999 and takes place in the same hospital but on a different floor, the two shows have minimal interaction. Occasionally, characters and storylines cross over, but each series can be enjoyed independently. CASUAL+Y has maintained its Saturday evening time slot since the early 1990s.
