“Made In Romania” follows the journey of a producer who seizes the opportunity to bring his dream project to life: a film adaptation of the little-known yet beautifully crafted Victorian novel, “The Tides of Reason”. After years of working on low-budget genre films, the producer eagerly agrees to the conditions set by his somewhat dubious financiers, which include filming the entire production in Romania to benefit from a complex and somewhat questionable tax arrangement. Presented in a documentary style, this behind-the-scenes comedy skillfully reveals the harsh truths of runaway film production. Set in the remote and obscure regions of rural Romania, the production quickly derails as eccentric personalities and cultural, economic, and language barriers converge, plunging the project into chaos.
