L’astragale

On an April night in 1957, Albertine, a rebellious and intelligent 19-year-old, escapes by leaping over the wall of the prison where she is incarcerated for a robbery. During her escape, she fractures a bone in her ankle known as the astragal. Julien, a man on the run from the law, finds her and a fiery romance ignites between them. He brings her to Paris and conceals her from the authorities. As Julien continues his criminal activities, Albertine battles for her independence and copes with the pain of his absence by writing poetry.
