Fallen City

In the contemporary setting of Shubei town in southeast China, Liu Chuan returns in disguise five years after absconding with RMB 800,000 from a bank heist. During the robbery, policeman Wang Laoshi was on duty and subsequently demoted for allowing Liu to escape. Wang now works at the local police station in the same district and continues to monitor Liu. Coincidentally, Liu ends up staying at a modest lodging in Wang’s area, where Qin Xiaosong, a psychology graduate who has fled her overbearing parents, is also residing. The following day, Wang spots Liu on the street and pursues him, eventually handcuffing him in an abandoned warehouse. At that moment, an earthquake strikes the town, causing the building to collapse. Wang is rendered unconscious, and Liu seizes the opportunity to take his uniform. After saving Qin, Liu inadvertently becomes involved in rescuing other townspeople, earning the admiration of the locals. Meanwhile, Wang regains consciousness and resumes his pursuit of Liu.
