A cutting-edge F-100 fighter jet, equipped with an advanced laser guidance system, crashes into the ocean close to Malta, an area with a significant Soviet military presence. In response, the CIA dispatches their top covert operative, Ken Tami, to recover the system before it can be captured by adversaries. To secure his commitment, they relocate his two young sons to a hotel on the island.
