False Confessions

Dorante, a young man with little money, is hired as a secretary by Araminte, a wealthy widow he secretly adores. Dubois, the valet, goes to great lengths to make Araminte fall for Dorante. After directing Marivaux’s comedy at the Odéon theater, Luc Bondy transforms the entire theater into a film set, positioning his actors in the lobby, beneath the stage, and even in the kitchens, utilizing the most unconventional and surprising locations to create a fresh interplay between theater and cinema.
