Meet My Mom

A year after his parents’ divorce, ten-year-old Jared Marshall’s world has fallen apart. His father has become more focused on his career, while his mother has moved them from Iowa to California to live with her mother and start a new job. When Jared’s class sends letters to U.S. troops stationed in Bosnia, he forms a connection with Sergeant First Class Vince Carerra, a compassionate soldier who grew up without a father and went through a divorce due to his wife’s infidelity during his deployment. Vince begins exchanging letters with Jared, offering him guidance akin to that of a father. Upon returning to Fort Sebastian, Vince visits Jared’s home and is warmly received. He takes on the role of Jared’s personal baseball coach and, with a little help from Cupid, becomes romantically involved with Jared’s mother. However, they agree not to make any long-term commitments due to the likelihood of Vince being redeployed.
