Skärgårdsdoktorn
“Skärgårdsdoktorn” was a Swedish TV series produced by SVT Drama, airing from 1997 to 2000 with a total of 18 episodes. The title translates to “The Archipelago Doctor” in English, and it became one of the most beloved Swedish TV shows of the 1990s, boasting an average viewership of around 2.5 million. This made it one of SVT Drama’s most significant successes. The series was created by Lars Bill Lundholm and Gunilla Linn Persson, with the first 8 episodes directed by Martin Asphaug. It was also broadcast in Norway, Finland, and Denmark.
In May 2009, plans were revealed to create a feature film based on “Skärgårdsdoktorn,” set to revisit the same characters a decade later. The film was expected to be released around Christmas 2010, or possibly in January or February 2011.
