“Nonni and Manni” is a children’s TV series created through a collaboration between Iceland and West Germany. It premiered on December 26, 1988, on West Germany’s ZDF channel and ran for six episodes, concluding on January 1, 1989.
The narrative is adapted from the book of the same name by Jón Sveinsson, a beloved Icelandic author of children’s literature, who was affectionately known as “Nonni.” Sveinsson’s works often drew from his own childhood experiences with his brother Ármann, also known as “Manni.” The series was filmed across locations in Iceland, West Germany, and Norway.
